Cedar Cove Conservation – Wildlife Videography
While working with Tiger Rock Martial Arts on a project exploring the cultural symbolism of tigers, I had the chance to visit Cedar Cove Conservation in Louisburg, Kansas—a non-profit dedicated to caring for big cats and other wildlife. The facility is home to lions, tigers, foxes, wolves, and more, offering a unique conservation-based experience different from a traditional zoo.
Our guided tour was both informative and inspiring, but the highlight was the white tiger, whose history tied directly into the story we were telling. I captured extensive b-roll on location, shooting in S-Log3 with a rented telephoto lens mounted on a monopod. This was one of my earliest experiences in wildlife videography, and I pushed my color grading skills further than ever before—rebuilding the look from scratch to create a vivid, cinematic final piece.
The project not only expanded my technical skill set but also gave me a deeper appreciation for working outside my usual human-focused subjects, capturing the raw beauty and presence of animals in a natural setting.
